Tabitha Babbitt, from Harvard, Massachusetts, is the inventor of the circular saw. She was an American tool maker who made the circular saw to be used in sawmills in 1813. The reason Tabitha invented the circular saw was that she saw men using the pit saw and waste their energy. She also invented the manufacture for false teeth, machine cut nails, and an improved spinning wheel head. Many believe she also improved and created many tools we still use today. Many men would be surprised to learn that a girl invented their favorite and most useful tools.
Tabitha never patented any of her inventions and simply believed in helping to improve others’ lives. One of her more important contributions was her work with Eli Whitney to create the cut nails. Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin and other big machinery. The cut nails, Tabitha and Eli worked on together in order to improve nails that were used to build heavy machinery and greatly improve industrialization in America.
