The cutting of wood with traditional saws was a typical sight in the hard-working labor force of America. One day Tabitha Babbitt was watching two men using a pit saw to cut wood. However, she noticed that half of their motion was being wasted on the downward movement. In order to improve and save the drastic amount of work, she sought a way to implement saws more effectively. The circular saw is an improved version of the traditional straight saw, because to use the traditional saw you would have to be strong and fit. To use the circular saw all you need to be able to do is operate a spinning wheel.
To make the circular saw machine, you must first make a mold of the blade. This mold has to be strong enough to not be melted at the same temperature as the material of the saw. Melding the material of the saw, you pour the material in to the mold. Next, you cool the saw and let it harden. After you take out the saw from the mold, the process for creating the stand begins. The stand is made of wood or metal in the shape of a table. With a gap in the middle where the saw would be placed. Also the gears for the spinning mechanism will be attached to the table to create the spinning function. Than the circular saw will be placed in the gap connected with the gears.
Now we have a fully functioning circular saw machine that can cut wood by simply sliding the wood across it. While before men has to use manual labor, now we can spin gears to let the machine work on its own. This saves a huge amount of time and energy. It also represents the machinery usage of the Industrial Revolution.
